Conclusion

Upon speaking with the manager at our Red Lobster location we were able to conclude that Red Lobster has been and still is a successful server of high quality seafood. The customer base that has stayed loyal to the company is what keeps bringing in high profits and excellent recognition for the restaurant. The restaurant prides itself on its customer service and makes sure that their customers receive the best possible service. 

By implementing the NCR POS system in 2005 the company has been able to reduce various costs making savings of almost forty percent more.  This system has eliminated the traditional use of papers and pen to send order into the kitchen. With this hardware installed in the restaurants order do not get misplaced nor are they forgotten about. This system organizes each order in such a manner that it makes it easier on the kitchen staff to prepare the meals. The Dash software that is a part of this hardware enables Red Lobster to keep a track of their inventory and check how much of which items is still available. This software also records customers orders and sales and allows the restaurant to find out which items sell more than others. Also, related to this process is the Microsoft SQL server which enables Red Lobster to keep a record of its existing customers with their names, addresses and birth dates. Also, this server keeps a record of the employees information as well generates the payroll. This server helps Red Lobster cut their costs of outsourcing their payroll to an outside firm and also makes the Red Lobster system work efficiently. 

With a focus differentiation strategy in place Red Lobster should be urged to follow our recommendations and as they would help them retain their regular customers by offering lower prices through deals and coupons as well as attract new customers who may previously have been turned away from the restaurant because of its premium pricing. Information silos also play a big role in how a company operate and Red Lobster must learn how to get rid of these silos through starting a new different practice of recording certain orders. Red Lobster has stated various times that the quality of their seafood is better than what a person can find at other places. Along with quality food they do the best they can to offer quality and timely service to its customers.
